NATURAL SCIENCE

Manzanita nurtures in children the ability to understand and care deeply for nature from an early age. We are big believers in getting kids outside to interact with their surroundings. Fresh air and exercise are important aspects, but students learn a tremendous amount from the natural world. Outside is a place of doing, of observing, of interacting.

MONTESSORI ROOTS

A Montessori classroom is thoughtfully designed to offer children opportunities to develop their own capabilities, whether it is learning how to dress themselves independently, multiply a multi-digit equation, communicate their needs effectively, or problem solve with others. Each classroom is filled with developmentally appropriate activities that encourage children to interact with specific learning materials, as well as to work cooperatively with others.

INSPIRING CREATIVITY

Manzanita strives to develop childrens' intellectual, artistic, and practical skills in an integrated and holistic manner. The cultivation of imagination and creativity is a central focus. Students are given the opportunity to return time and time again to a work and then to develop body of work over time.  By focusing on both process and product, children have the ability to develop both craft and the joy of process.
